Top 5 Reasons People Buy Real Estate, according to a Gallup Poll

Top 5 Reasons People Buy Real Estate, according to a Gallup Poll, include:

FINANCIAL                                                 NON FINANCIAL
1. See owning as an investment            1. Belief in homeownership
2. Chance to build equity and credit       2. Don't want to live in a rental
3. Smarter than paying rent                  3. Better place for the family
4. More cost effective than renting         4. Ability to do what they want
5. Financial security and stability           5. Pride of Ownership

Implied within these 5 financial and 5 non-financial reasons people buy real estate, I believe are:  the tax benefits associated with buying a home or investment property, building a retirement fund, and the freedom homeownership allows.

What is most important to you for buying a home for yourself and your family and for buying an investment property?

10 "Must Know" Time Saving and Convenient Techie Short-Cuts and Tips

I love discovering new ideas that help make my life easier, richer and fuller.  Today, a friend shared a Ted Talks video on Facebook that I feel compelled to pass on.  It is entitled "10 top time-saving tech tips" and was given by David Pogue.  I picked up a few good tips, and I think you might learn something new and useful for improving your techno-savvy.  This will help you to become more efficient in your work and leisure, but also to appear more knowledgeable to your friends and business clients.

Some of these tips I already knew and others were brand new to me.  These are my personal favorites that I find most useful:

1. Use the space bar to scroll down.  Hold the Shift key with the space bar to scroll up.
2. Hold the Control key and tap the + sign to make the text and images on your screen appear larger; and hold Control with the - sign to make text smaller.
3. Bypass the instructions for leaving a voice-mail when calling someone's cell phone by using the following shortcuts:
 - Verizon: *
 - AT&T / T-Mobile: #
 - Sprint: 1
4. Use the Google search box as a dictionary, for airline flight tracking information and for unit and currency conversion;
 - Type "define" and the word for which you would like to know the definition (i.e. "define philanthropy");
 - Type the airline and flight number (i.e. "Delta 31");
 - Type "inches in 32cm" (to determine how many inches are in 32 cms)
Which is your personal favorite?  And what would you add to this list?
